DAY0: Eleven intrepid heroes set out for Stranraer on Scotland’s 'Rhins of Galloway' peninsula on Thursday 13th July 2017. Nine of us will cycle 206 miles to Whitley Bay, two of us will drive the support vans.
DAY1: Lined up on Loch Ryan beach (left to right): Mike Genders, Melvyn Crimlis, Tim Jarvis, Dan Jarvis, Jef Lofts, Katy Bartle, Paul Knight, Owen Wilby, Andrew Gordon.
It doesn't take too long and Luce Bay is behind us.
And then we're lunching at Newton Stewart.
The weather just holds out until we finish day 1 at Castle Douglas.
DAY2:The next day however is wet and misty so no nice view of the Solway Firth as we make our way to the Scottish border at Gretna. Here we are crossing the Annan.
Our first sight of Hadrian's wall as we climb into the north penines in the afternoon.
Finishing the day in Haltwhistle with much improved weather.
Day3: we're off to Vindolanda Roman fort and it's a lovely sunny day.
Then crossing the Tyne at Cortbridge.
And lunching at Swineburne
Before completing the tour next to the Spanish City Whitley Bay.
